I met Lisa over 4 years ago, my life had just been turned upside down, my mum died and I decided after an awful marriage enough was enough. I was broken and felt I had nothing else to lose, so I decided that I needed to leave my husband (losing my mum made me realise life was too short to be unhappy).
My first session I was a sobbing broken mess. I left that session feeling like there was finally a glimmer of hope. Over the following sessions my mind became clearer and I started to feel more empowered and confident. Some sessions were full of tears, others laughter and even laughter that turned into sobbing. I was an emotional wreck but what I didn't realise at the time, this was my body's way of sorting through trauma past and present.
With Lisa's guidance and compassion I was safe emotionally and mentally free to express myself. Lisa never ever judges me even when I make some pretty questionable choices. She stands by my choices and is always there to catch me when I fall and is my biggest cheerleader with even the smallest achievements whether it's setting and holding my personal boundaries (which I seriously lacked in the past, but now thanks to Lisa I'm confident and strong enough mentally and emotionally to set) or doing something I was too anxious to try before.
I can't imagine going through life now without my counselling check ins, to off load and talk situations through even when life is going great. Sometimes I feel I need to see Lisa weekly if life has become a little much or monthly or even every other month.
The first session is often the hardest, but go in, sit on her sofa and take a breath. Lisa's room is warm and calming. Sometimes that first deep breath is what you need to get started. There's no pressure and everything is at your own pace.
